The Shelby is named after Shelby Montana, located in Toole County. Shelby is known as the crossroads, it’s where Highway 2 and I-15 intersect, and where the railroad provides passage going both to the east and the west. One of Shelby’s claims to fame is the Dempsey vs. Gibbon fight that took place there July 4, 1923.
