Vaughn Montana is located under 10 miles north of Great Falls Montana. Vaughn was named after the early homesteader, Robert Vaughn, who ran the Vaughn Ranch that sat over most of the town. Robert was convinced that Montana as prime farming and ranching country, he ran a large cattle operation here until his wife died and he moved to Great Falls. Sun River runs right through Vaughn on its way to the Missouri River. In the Surrounding areas you have the First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park, The Benton Lake National Wildlife Refuge, and the Freezout Lake Wildlife Management Area.
