This set of Mountains is a section of the Rocky Mountains that sits mainly in the Helena National Forest. The highest peak in this range is called Mount Edith, which sits at 9,504 ft. The Big Belts sits primarily between the Missouri River drainage and the Smith River drainage. The western slopes of this range has been historically rich in gold placers strikes. The Sleeping Giant mountain formation is on the western edge of the Big Belts!
