Belt Montana in located to the east of Great Fall, right on the Belt River. Originally founded at the first Coal mine in the state of Montana, this mine supplied the fuel for Fort Benton. While this town was in its boom with the mine it was called, Little Pittsburgh, Coal Banks, or the Black Diamon City. The coal boom pretty well died out in 1930, when the smelters in Great Falls converted to natural gas. Now Belt is home to the Harvest Moon Brewery.
